TRYOUT PREP 2026

2026

THE PREPARATION STANDARD

Success at tryouts is rarely a matter of luck; it is a direct result of intentional, high-pressure preparation. Our 8-week clinic is designed to bridge the gap between off-season training and peak competitive performance. By immersing players in an environment that demands technical precision and mental sharpness, we ensure they arrive at the pitch with the confidence to stand out. At Black Oaks FC, we provide the tools, the intensity, and the professional standards required for players to claim their spot at the next level.

MISSION & LEADERSHIP

DIRECTOR OF COACHING MEZ ROOHIAN

At Black Oaks FC, our mission has remained unchanged for 27 years: to cultivate technically superior players who lead with character on and off the pitch. This Tryout Prep series is led by Director of Coaching Mez Roohian, whose professional standards and experience in player evaluation provide a roadmap for success. Mez’s curriculum focuses on the ‘Evaluation Essentials’ and the specific traits and habits that elite coaches look for during tryout week; ensuring every participant is prepared to showcase their best self when the whistle blows.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Is this clinic for Black Oaks FC players only?

No. We take pride in offering a club-neutral environment. The 8-week series is open to all players from any club in the region who are looking to improve their technical standards and prepare for the competitive season.

Does attending this clinic guarantee a spot on a team?

While this program is designed to maximize a player’s performance and visibility, team placement is determined during official club tryouts in the spring. This clinic ensures your player is prepared to showcase their best self when that time comes.

What happens if we miss a session?

Because we have a limited number of spots to maintain a high coach-to-player ratio, we cannot offer make-up sessions or prorated refunds for individual missed dates.

What should my player bring to the pitch?

Players should arrive 15 minutes early at Santa Rosa High School dressed in training gear with cleats, shin guards, a labeled water bottle, and a properly inflated soccer ball.

How are the age groups and time slots divided?

To ensure elite-level training and maximum touches, sessions are divided into 1-hour high-intensity blocks by age:

  • U8–U9: 1:00 PM – 2:00 PM

  • U10–U11: 2:00 PM – 3:00 PM

  • U12–U13: 3:00 PM – 4:00 PM

  • Please arrive 15 minutes early to be ready for the whistle.
